A homeless man in Brisbane told me that he was harassed by police this morning at 7am on Thursday 9th June as he was walking down the steps of King George Square after leaving the train station. They were waiting for him and in their usual thug like manner proceeded to stand over and assault him physically. They questioned him about where he lived to which he replied that he was homeless as of yesterday having left Pindari hostel.
The police then said in a threatening manner that they would be keeping an eye on him and that they (the queensland police) were going to be hammering the homeless from now on. The brave homeless man then told the police "Whatever". They let slip that he matched a description of the cop killer from the gold coast who was previously thought to have been arrested but is now believed to have slipped through the police net. They also said something about DNA evidence not matching up.
The tall homeless man wearing shorts and a tracksuit top similar to the photo of a man wanted by police as a witness to the gold coast murder requested his identity remain anonymous for fear of retribution by the queensland police. "I want nothing to do with it." he replied to a request that he be quoted and his name used.
A well founded fear as queensland police probably will start violently beating up the homeless in response to the death of gold coast pig Damian Leeding. Its possible the homeless man was misled by police or was confused as to their actual meaning and they only considered him a possible witness but the man has always been a reliable source of information in the past.
An elderly homeless aquaintance of mine named Bruce was beaten up in Queen Street toilets back in 2005 by police. He is still fighting them in court. Despite video footage of the attack clearly showing the beating.
